Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia


Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia was born on March 23, 1910, in Akbarpur village of Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh state of India. His father’s name was Hira Lal, who was a teacher. His mother Chanda died at Lohia  in childhood.

 

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia was the freedom fighter, and socialist politician of India. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia was very impressed with Gandhiji’s ideology. Gandhiji’s immense personality had a profound effect on him. In 1921, he met Jawaharlal Nehru. In a short time, their deep friendships developed.

Life of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia is a source of inspiration for generations to come. He continued to struggle against poverty and injustice against the farmer throughout his life. He died on October 12, 1967.

‘Lohia Jubilee’ is celebrated on 23rd March every year on the birthday of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. His birth anniversary is celebrated throughout the country. On this occasion, cultural events are organized in many places. On this day seminar is organized in place. Wreaths are taken on the idol of Dr. Lohia and tribute is given to them.
